Mercedes-Benz Ergonomic Training Simulator

Mercedes-Benz Ergonomic Training Simulator

Objective: This project was initiated to address a critical need within Mercedes-Benz’s manufacturing process: educating employees on the ergonomically correct use of a screwdriver when tightening screws on a chassis. By incorporating ergonomics studies into an immersive virtual training program, the aim was to promote occupational health and increase efficiency on the production line.

My Contribution:
Motion Capture Integration: I was in charge of implementing Rokoko motion capture technology to record precise movements, ensuring that the virtual training accurately reflected the ergonomic practices taught.
Virtual Environment Setup: Using Unity 3D, I configured the virtual setting to simulate a realistic Mercedes-Benz production line, complete with a chassis and screw tightening tasks.
Prototype Testing: I actively engaged in testing the prototype, refining the user experience based on hands-on interaction, and ensuring the accuracy of motion capture in replicating the desired ergonomic movements. The video above also features me testing the prototype, showcasing the real-time capture of ergonomic movements.

Technologies Used:
Rokoko: Utilized for motion capture to record and translate user movements within the virtual environment.
Unity 3D: Served as the development platform to create and integrate the virtual training content.
HTC Vive: Chosen for its immersive VR experience and precision tracking capabilities.
